St. George’s fashion show taking checkered flag on May 23

TERRE HAUTE — “Racing into Fashion” is the title of the St. George Ladies Society annual style show, which is scheduled for May 23.

 The event will be staged at the St. George Social Center, 1900 S. Fourth St. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., and the style show begins at 7 p.m.

Forty models are scheduled to give guests previews of popular summer styles for children, women and men. Guests will be entertained with music, and models will come directly to the audience’s tables for an upclose view of clothing suitable for summer breezes.

Narrating the show will be Julie Henricks of WTWO's Good Day Live and Claudia Tanoos, vice president of Terre Haute Economic Development Corp. and one of the recently honored Women of Influence.

Tanoos and Pam Ellis of Rogers Boutique are co-chairpersons of the event.

Mayor Duke Bennet and his wife, Pam, will be at the forefront of a lavish production of celebrities as they feature clothing, jewelry and accessories from Rogers Boutique and Carson’s department store.

Guests will be served a complimentary buffet of finger foods. Wine will be available for purchase.

Other familiar personalities who will model clothing suitable for children, men and women include David Wire, weather forecaster of WTHI-TV,; Dana Winklepleck, news anchor of WTWO; Julie Baesler of Baesler’s Market; Rob Measel, broker/owner of Century 21; Danny Tanoos, Vigo County Superintendent of Schools; Dottie King, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College president; Ann Valentine, chancellor of Ivy Tech Community College, Wabash Valley Region; and Lauren Mnayarji, Southern Heartland Queen and contestant for Miss Indiana.

Several silent auction items from well-known celebrities will be featured, including a donation from Steve Weatherford and Indianapolis 500 race tickets.

Price for reserved tables of 8 is $160; individual tickets are $20.

Ticket sales are going fast, according to a press release.

 All proceeds will benefit the St. George Orthodox building fund.
