TERRE HAUTE —
A benefit for 13-year-old Toby Apple will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Stumble In, at 1863 E. Illinois 133, in Hindsboro, Ill. Kids are welcome.
At the ‘Fighting for Toby’ benefit, a total of $3,000 will be drawn; tickets are $25 each. There will be seven tickets drawn the day of the benefit. Tickets can be purchased now or the day of the event at Stumble In.
Also on tap is silent and loud auctions, starting at 4 p.m.
The son of Jason and Amanda Apple of Oakland, Toby has Type 1 Neurofibromatosis, which causes a corpus callosum (brain tumor). He has gone through two surgeries in nine months, the second one on March 28. Soon Toby will have to undergo chemotherapy treatments. Toby and his family will travel to Peoria once a week for 14 to 18 months for his treatments. He has a long road ahead of him.
All money raised will help with gas expenses to and from doctor appointments and chemo treatments, and for all future expenses related to his illness.
