TERRE HAUTE —
Artist Michael Robert Elmore, member of the Wabash Valley Art Guild, is currently featured at the Vigo Country Public Library. The collection exhibited offers a vibrant feast to the eyes, while also intriguing the viewer with a riddle posed by one of the paintings.
Elmore primarily works with oil paint, egg tempura and encaustic paint, which is derived from hot wax. In addition to the WVAG, he is also a sponsor member of TC Steele State Historic Site near Nashville, Ind.
He invites his audience to study the brain teaser “1818” and decipher what the title alludes to. The piece is included in the current exhibit at the library.
Elmore’s art has an international presence, ranging from sculptures and a mural in place in South America, to commissioned paintings in private collections in Switzerland.
