‘Greater Tuna’ to open at Myers Theatre in Hillsboro next week

HILLSBORO — Myers Dinner Theatre of Hillsboro in Fountain County continues its 2013 season with “Greater Tuna,” opening on Wednesday.

The show runs at MDT through June 1. Performances are primarily on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons, and Friday and Saturday nights.  

The comedy premiered on Broadway in 1982 to rave reviews.

The local cast of Greater Tuna consists of two men who play 20 members of the fictional town of Tuna, Texas. In a frenzy of costume changes and comic timing, the audience meets such characters as Petey Fisk, the local humane society director’ Pearl Burras, an elderly woman with an interesting hobby; Stanley Bumiller; the town ruffian, and Harold Dean Lattimer, the dedicated weatherman.

This show is being co-directed by co-producer Preston Dildine, Mace, and co-producer Michael Moyer, Indianapolis. Both are also starring in the show.

Weekday and Saturday matinees begin with dinner at noon and show at 1:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday evening performances start with dinner at 6:30 p.m. and show at 8 p.m. Sunday matinees feature dinner at 1 p.m. and show at 2:30 p.m.

Dinner and the show cost $36 (tax included); student tickets are $25. Group prices are available. Show-only tickets are also available for $20
