Celebration of Automobiles making pit stop at Clabber Girl Friday

TERRE HAUTE — Clabber Girl Corp. is preparing to welcome the Indianapolis Motor Speedway 2013 Celebration of Automobiles on Friday.

“Vintage car owners and automotive enthusiasts have flocked to IMS for the last two years to join in the Celebration of Automobiles, which pays tribute to the rich heritage of automotive development at the track for more than 100 years,” according to a press release

This year’s event will feature a driving tour of the Indiana countryside. Vintage cars will travel from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway to Clabber Girl to explore the Hulman family history.

Cars will be on display on Ninth Street in front of the Clabber Girl Museum and Bake Shop while the drivers stop for lunch, catered by the Clabber Girl Kitchen, and tour the facility.

The public is invited to come out to view the vintage automobiles and help celebrate Terre Haute’s connection to the history of the Greatest Spectacle in Racing. Automobiles are scheduled to be on exhibit from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“Clabber Girl is thrilled to be a part of this event,” Gary Morris, president and COO, said in a news release.  “I have been attending the race since I was sixteen years old, and personally I am a huge fan! I am excited that we have the opportunity to be a part of bringing this new tradition to Terre Haute.”

The Celebration of Automobiles is a three-day event scheduled for today through Saturday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. There will be a Vintage and Classic Car Show on Saturday at the Speedway featuring 200 rare cars from 1910-70.

European marques and Brass Era cars will be featured; new this year will be classes for open-wheel race cars from 1910-70, Indy 500 pace cars and unrestored cars.
