ISU Faculty Brass Quintet to perform April 3

The Indiana State University School of Music Faculty Brass Quintet will perform a variety of works during a performance at 7:30 p.m. today in the Landini Center for Performing and Fine Arts Recital Hall.

The quintet includes Robert Waugh and Edward Ludma on trumpet, Brian Kilp on horn, Randy Mitchell on trombone and Glen Dimick on tuba.

The quintet will premier two works — “Capriccio” by Greencastle composer Alexis Bacon and Michael Johanson’s “Summer Rhapsody.” The group will also perform “Battle Suite,” composed by Samuel Scheid, Anthony Plog’s “Mosaics,” and music from the “Phantom of the Opera.”

The Quintet is an active School of Music ensemble that performs music of all styles and types from Bach to Duke Ellington. The group tours each year performing concerts in Indiana and Illinois high schools. In 2008, the quintet performed at the Shenyang Conservatory of Music in Shenyang, China as the opening concert celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the conservatory. Quintet members also perform in the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra as well as other regional orchestras.

Admission to the event is free. For more information, contact the School of Music at 812-237-2771.
