Learn about ‘The Wabash in Legend and Lore’ at Symphony fundraiser

TERRE HAUTE — Hear Vigo County historian Mike McCormick speak on “The Wabash in Legend and Lore” during the Terre Haute Symphony League’s fundraiser at noon Wednesday in the Country Club of Terre Haute. Reservations are due Friday.

McCormick has a vast background of knowledge and expertise on the Wabash River. He is a longtime resident of Terre Haute. He attended school here, graduating from Wiley High School with honors. He went on to graduate from Indiana University Law School and practice law in Terre Haute for many years, serving at one point as City Attorney. McCormick wrote for the Tribune-Star while still in high school. In addition to being an historian and journalist, he is an avid sports fan.

Tickets are $40 ($25 is a tax-deductible donation) and all proceeds will benefit the Terre Haute Symphony. Purchase tickets at or by calling the Symphony office at 812-242-8476. The menu will be chicken and mushroom Wellington, grilled vegetable medley, garden salad, muffins and butter, small dessert and beverage.

Established in 1926, the Terre Haute Symphony is the oldest professional orchestra in Indiana. Each year, the THSO offers the community five concerts in many different styles. The Terre Haute Symphony League is dedicated to promoting, supporting and serving the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra. Membership is always open.
