Dancers from across community to raise funds Dec. 7 for youth in need

Indiana State University’s Sparkette Dance Team is pairing with A+ All Star Productions/School of the Dance to ring in the holiday spirit and lend a helping hand to 14th and Chestnut Community Center at 10 a.m. Saturday on campus.

The performance will take place in the Center for Health and Human Performance at Fifth and Chestnut streets. The price of admission is a new, unwrapped toy, canned food item or monetary donation. These donations to 14th and Chestnut will be distributed to children and families in need in Vigo County. The center’s mission aims to partner with and provide ministry to the community in order to assist with a variety of spiritual, physical and education needs.

The benefit performance will feature holiday songs and performers of all ages from across the community. Special guests include ISU athletes, the ISU Cheer Team and Sycamore Sam. Santa Claus will be available after the performance for pictures and autographs.

Dances by A+ All Star Productions/School of the Dance will represent a variety of different genres and celebrate the festive time of year. The Sparkette Dance Team will also offer a sneak peek of their holiday dance.

The ISU Sparkette Dance Team is a 50-year tradition at Indiana State University. The team consists of 12 members and is under the direction of Tammy Schaffer. This is the eighth year they have paired with A+ All Star Production/School of the Dance to host a holiday showcase benefitting the center.
