The Brazil Concert Band will begin its 155th year of continuous performances with rehearsals at Northview High School at 7 p.m. on May 14 and May 21.
The 75-member band is under the direction of Matthew S. Huber.
The band has professionally recorded two compact discs of music by Fred Jewell and led an effort for an Indiana state historical marker in Jewell’s hometown of Worthington.
In recent years, the band has performed in Washington, D.C., Disney World, New Orleans, New York City, Wisconsin Dells and Memphis, Tenn.
The band performs concert overture classics, Broadway favorites, big band tunes, waltzes and marches by Sousa, Fillmore, King and Jewell.
Huber, a member since 1968, has led the band for 32 years. He was inducted into the Wabash Valley Musicians Hall of Fame and commissioned a Kentucky Colonel.
The band performs at 8 p.m. on Sundays from June 2 to Aug. 25 at Forest Park.
