Little Italy comes to Clinton

Community packs in 3 days of entertainment

---- — The 2013 Little Italy Festival will take place from 5 to 11 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday in Clinton.

A parade is planned for 6 p.m. Friday, beginning at North Ninth Street and ending at the festival grounds.

Re and Regina are Lou and Carol Bonomo; Queen of Grapes is Madie Holland.

A royalty reception is planned from noon to 2 p.m. Monday at 234 S. Main St.

The Little Italian House at 350 N. Ninth St. will be open from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday through Monday.

Il Mercato (market) and the La Cantina (winery), both at 354 N. Ninth St., will be open from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday.

The Wine Garden at 356 N. Ninth St. opens at 6 p.m. Friday and at 11 a.m. Saturday through Monday. Beer, wine, soft drinks and Italian sandwiches will be served. Families are welcome until 5:30 p.m., then patrons 21 years or older only.

Activities on the riverfront will include the Optimist Great Italian Duck Race. Ducks will be put in the river at 2 p.m. with winners announced at 4:30 p.m.

The LIFT building at Mulberry and Water streets will be open. Bocce ball tournaments are planned at Sportland Park on Saturday and Sunday, and a 1-mile run and 5K Run & Fitness Walk are planned at South Vermillion High School. Registration is 7 to 8 a.m. Saturday. The 1-mile run starts at 8:10 a.m., the 5K at 8:35 a.m.

The Coal Town & Railroad Museum at Main and Vine streets will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday.
