Rose exhibit features Terre Haute, Sullivan artists through Dec. 20

Artists from Terre Haute and Sullivan share their many talents and experiences in a fall art exhibition through Dec. 20 in the hallways of Moench Hall and Myers Hall at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.

A free public reception honoring artists Brian Miller and Debbie Anderson of Terre Haute, and Don Monroe of Sullivan is scheduled 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. today in both campus buildings.

“Fleeting Moments” is the title of an exhibit of photographs by Miller, owner and partner of Terre Haute’s MillerWhite Marketing. He is a master of visual art in several mediums, and a thoughtful and perceptive artist who is always examining the world for insights in living.

Miller’s photography series on the second floor of Moench Hall show the artist’s response to the ever-changing moods of light, atmosphere and textures in our everyday world.

The photographs preserve and convey singular experiential moments which awaken the sense of beauty, complexity and temporality.

Oil paintings featured in Monroe’s “International Journeys” exhibit were inspired by his travels to China, Thailand, Brazil, Russia, Italy, France and the Caribbean.

These exquisite, large scale paintings throughout Myers Hall depict places, people and events during his travels.

Even as a very young man, Monroe was compelled to create art.

He held a deep fascination with painting and has spent a lifetime building his painting skills. Now, he shows his abilities as a mature artist, refined through years of study of his craft.

Anderson’s latest beautiful wood inlay works, featuring a variety of woods and subjects/themes, are displayed in the exhibit “Current Intarsia Creations,” located on the second floor of Moench Hall. Her works of carefully fitted gorgeous woods are a delight to behold, technically and aesthetically.

Finally, Miller/White Marketing documents the branding and marketing process used to promote client companies in the exhibit “Grey Matters, An Integrated Marketing Exhibit,” located on the first floor of Moench Hall.

The exhibit strives to help educate Rose-Hulman students and campus visitors on how effective communication happens. “QR” codes embedded in the graphics allow viewers to use their smartphones to wirelessly access more examples and explanatory data via Internet web pages.

Marketing publications use images, colors, space, positioning and scale as structural visual components.

These fall exhibits are available for public viewing from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.
