Sammy Terry show Oct. 19 in Indiana Theatre

TERRE HAUTE — It’s October and Sammy Terry time.

Terry, that spooktacular entertainer who captivated Hoosier television viewers every weekend in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, will present “Sammy Terry’s Nightmare Theater Stage Show” on Saturday in the Indiana Theatre, 683 Ohio St., Terre Haute.

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. The show will run from 7 to 9 p.m.

Proceeds will go toward expansion of the Vorhees Skate Park.

“I’m delighted to help scare up funds for the Terre Haute skateboarders,” Terry said.

Admission is $10 per adult and $5 per students over 12. Children 12 and under are free. All tickets will be sold at the door.

Terre Haute Mayor Duke Bennett will open Saturday’s show by proclaiming Oct. 31, 2013, as “Sammy Terry Day.”

Before Sammy’s stage show, a Halloween costume contest will be staged with two divisions: children ages 12 and under and those 13 and older. First-, second- and third-place winners for each will be determined by audience applause.

Door prizes will be given at the end of Terry’s performance. Raffles will be conducted for prizes inside the theater during the event.

Terry will greet those who attend and invite them to get his autograph, pose for pictures or check out his latest merchandise.

Terry will tape his annual WTTV-TV 4 Television Halloween show from inside the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis. He will host the horror classic “Night of the Living Dead” at 10 p.m. Halloween night.

Terry’s memorabilia is on display in the Indianapolis Central Library downtown in anticipation of his doing a book signing on the soon to be released “Sammy Terry 50th anniversary book” early in 2014.
