Watch Walldogs paint mural during Marshall Autumn Festival

News Release

---- — You can watch a mural come to life as four Walldog artists come to Marshall, Ill., to paint a picture on the side of the Genealogical Library, 521 Locust St., during Marshall’s annual Autumn Festival.

Walldogs are mural and sign artists from all over the globe. The painters, who specialize in the signs, call themselves “Walldogs” because back in the heyday of hand-painted advertising murals on barns and brick buildings, they “worked like dogs” in the summer heat on precarious perches. They have been all over Illinois painting murals, most recently in Kewanee, Ill.

As the festival beings on Sept. 20, downtown Marshall will turn the streetlights off as the Walldogs project and hand trace huge images on the building’s wall.

During the next four days, spectators can watch the artists bring flare, pop and color to the mural, and can enjoy the festivities.

The Marshall Autumn Fest kicks off Sept. 20 with a fish and chicken dinner at the VFW., 112 N. Fifth St.
