USO show and dance in Vincennes

The fifth annual Vincennes Stage Door Canteen will take place at 6 p.m. Sept. 14 , at Vincennes University’s Green Activities Center. This fundraiser for United Service Organizations Indiana recalls the sights and sounds of the 1940s with a World War II-style variety show and dance. Admission is free with any donation made at the door to USO Indiana.

Sponsored by the Vincennes Historical and Antiquarian Society, the Canteen is inspired by the many USO clubs that sprang up throughout the nation during World War II, including in Vincennes. The USO is still serving soldiers and their families today.

The Vincennes Stage Door Canteen is an official partner of USO Indiana. USO Indiana currently operates three clubs in the state which help provide food, recreation, entertainment and a “home away from home” for American soldiers today, just as they did in the 1940s. USO Indiana is an all-volunteer organization and does not receive federal funding to operate.

Information is available at www.USO.org/Indiana.
