Clark County 4-H’ers are busy selling tickets and making plans for the 65th annual 4-H BBQ. This year’s BBQ will take place from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 7 in the Martinsville Fire House and the Martinsville Township Community Center in downtown Martinsville, Ill. Tickets are now available for $7 from any Clark County 4-H’er, or $8 at the door. Children’s tickets (ages 1-7) may be purchased for $4 at the door.
This year’s meal will feature the traditional barbecued beef or pork as well as a choice of baked potato or potato chips, green beans, pickles, bread, drink and ice cream. Barbecue and hot dog sandwiches will also be sold. About 1,150 pounds of pork and 800 pounds of beef will be prepared.
Both a take-out line and a drive-up service will be available. The drive-up will be on the north alley of the firehouse. Sandwiches will be served from the drink stand on Main Street.
Proceeds from the event go to sponsor many 4-H events throughout the year, including scholarships to attend 4-H Memorial Camp, Citizenship Washington Focus and Illini 4-H Academy. The event also supports college scholarships, county awards and plaques, premiums and a variety of workshops scheduled throughout the year.
