Crosley Players Halloween event set Oct. 31

The Crosley Radio Players will present on Halloween night, Oct. 31, a live recreation of the infamous Mercury Theater version of H.G. Wells’ “The War of the Worlds” at 8 p.m at Harmony Hall, 1257 Lafayette Ave. The cast will feature many well-known voices from Terre Haute radio and television. The music will also be done live by the West Vigo High School Orchestra. Sound effects will also be created live, just as in the original radio play.

The show, which has become known as the show that panicked America, has become a classic. This presentation celebrates the original show’s 75th anniversary. To further enhance the show, a 5-foot, World War 2 vintage, carbon-arc searchlight will be in operation outside the theater, searching the sky for Martians.

Tickets are required. Adult admission is $7 and children with a paid adult $3 for ages 5 to 17. Advance tickets can be purchased by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope with payment in cash or money order to The Crosley Radio Players 3000 W. Spencer Drive Terre Haute, IN 47802. Please indicate how many adult and child tickets.
