The community is invited to grab their flapper or their dapper, brush up on the Foxtrot and Charleston and swing into 2014 at the Great Gatsby New Year’s Eve Gala. It will take place in the newly renovated, historic Indiana Theatre at the corner of Seventh and Ohio streets from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Dec. 31.
The event will be a night of 1920s glitz and glamour to support the Vigo County Historical Society Museum. Attendees will rub elbows with bosses and bootleggers, femme fatales and flappers. The gathering will feature Prohibition-style cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, a live swing band, party favors, a silent auction and a champagne toast at midnight. Participants can don their glad rags — black-tie optional or 1920s-inspired attire — and celebrate in high-society style.
Admission is $50. Tickets are on sale now. Call 812-235-9717 to purchase tickets or for more information, or stop by the museum at 1411 S. Sixth St.
