Rockville Library to host author, book signing Oct. 1

Millie DesEnfants will give a free talk and book signing at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the Rockville Public Library at 106 N. Market St. The author has written two books, “Long Ago Sally” and “Giggles and Tears.”

Both are about her day-to-day life. She grew up during the Great Depression and wanted to share her past with the children of today.

“Long Ago Sally” deals with DesEnfants’ childhood in Cleaton, Ky. She wrote short paragraphs and drew pictures of things she particularly wanted to pass to her descendants.

“Giggles and Tears” is a memoir that takes readers on an inspirational literary trip as DesEnfants relates her mother’s journey with Alzheimer’s disease.

Her mother moved into DesEnfants’ home and lived there for 10 years. There were many times when DesEnfants and her husband, Ernie, cried and laughed while they were witnessing her mother’s decline. DesEnfants hopes to inspire and help readers cope with or recognize this disease in loved ones.

Books will be available for purchase during the event. Call the library at 765-569-5544 for more information.
