‘Heritage Days’ in June to feature handmade arts, crafts

---- — “Heritage Days on the Old National Road” is scheduled for June 15 to 16 in downtown Martinsville, Ill.

The new festival will feature art and craft items that are original and handmade by the vendors. There will be no commercial vendors.

Heritage Days attractions will include an equine parade. Artists and artisans will sell their creations and provide demonstrations including blacksmithing, horseshoeing, goat milking, pottery making, quilting, bee-keeping, wood-carving, painting, jewelry making, soap making, spinning, basket weaving and making bobbin lace.

Other attractions will include: a National Road storyteller, a variety of bands playing throughout the festival, Native American re-enactments, Indian artifacts, antique tractors and a quilt show. There will also be activities for children and adults, including old-time games, a bike rodeo, a barrel train and a petting zoo.

Anyone who creates works of art or handmade crafts is invited to participate. Artists and crafters wanting demonstrate the creation are invited to do so.
