St. Patrick’s annual painting of the shamrock at 19th and Poplar streets will take place at 9 a.m. today, and the 37th annual St. Patrick’s Day Celebration will kick off at 8 a.m. Saturday with the Irish Dash 5K Walk/Run.
Race check-in will begin at 7 a.m. on Saturday in the St. Patrick Church parking lot. Cost for participants is $20. All advance registered participants will receive a T-shirt with entry. Registration forms can be picked-up in the St. Patrick’s school office, and at www.wvrr.org or www.indyrunner.com. The race will begin and end at the painted shamrock.
The annual St. Pat’s parade will begin at 1 p.m. The parade will begin in the former Schulte High School parking lot, just north of Baesler’s Market, and travel west on Ohio Boulevard to 19th Street, ending in the St. Patrick’s School parking lot. The 2014 honorary mayor, Father Rick Ginther, will be featured during the parade. The annual St. Pat’s dinner and party will begin at 6 p.m. with a traditional Irish corned beef and cabbage dinner, until 8:30. Dinner will be followed with music by Brad Anderson and his band and a silent auction. Tickets for the dinner/party are available at the St. Patrick’s rectory and school office.
