The Brazil Concert Band is scheduled to present “Kings, Cartoons And The Doubtful Wife” at 8 p.m. on June 23 at the Forest Park Band Shell. In case of rain, the concert will be moved to the pavilion.
BCB Flute Choir will debut with a performance of “The Doubtful Wife” from “A Gaelic Offering,” by Catherine McMichael.
Flutists are Shelley Criss, Janelle R. Huber, Jean Penry, Carol McClain, Betty Heine, Marcia Boswell, Doris Gambill, Joy Minor, Cheryl Thompson, Ruth Parker, Codie Jones and Carlie Schlatter.
The BCB will present Ravel’s “Bolero” and “Till Eulenspiegel’s Merry Pranks,” by Strauss.
The concert will also feature classic cartoons songs as part of “Cartoon Carnival,” with “Merrily We Roll Along,” “Meet The Flintstones,” “Jetsons” and “The Merry Go Round Broke Down.”
The “Original Dixieland Concerto” will include New Orleans tunes, with “Jazz Me Blues,” “Ballin’ The Jack” and “Original Dixieland One-Step” by John Warrington and “Firehouse Rag” by Stephen Kent Goodman.
Marches will include “King Cotton” by Sousa, “Transcontinental” by Hughes, “Trumpets Of Spendor” by John Cacavas and Karl L. King’s “The Trombone King.”
Matthew S. Huber directs the band.
