Learn about ‘World of Weaving’ Oct. 17

“The Wonderful World of Weaving,” part of the Vigo County Public Library’s Brown Bag Program, will take place from 12:10 to 1:10 p.m. on Oct. 17 in the lower-level meeting rooms of the library, Seventh and Poplar streets.

The presentation will be given by Dawn Carlson, Cathie Laska and Anne Bunch, members of the Wabash Valley Weavers Guild. Carlson will open with a brief history of fiber development and weaving.

Laska has been a weaver for more than 38 years, and her interest in pioneer/coverlet weaving began years ago. She has worked as a weaver at the Pioneer Days at Fowler Park and is an art teacher at Hoosier Prairie. The intricate beauty of coverlets made Laska want to try this weaving technique.

The presentation will conclude with a short demonstration of weaving on a floor loom by Anne Bunch.
