Hutsonville (Ill.) High School will host the seventh annual Max Benefit from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Feb. 7 in the Commons. The meal will consist of spaghetti with meat sauce and will be catered by Fazoli’s of Vincennes. Tickets are $7, and proceeds go to the Exotic Feline Rescue Center. An original oil painting of Max will also be auctioned off at the benefit. The benefit precedes the home boys' basketball game against Flora.
Max the tiger was adopted by the school when he as a cub and had annual visits to Hutsonville while he was small enough to fit into the cage for transport. Weighing in at 650 pounds, he had outgrown the travel cage and resides comfortably at the Exotic Feline Rescue Center, in Center Point, with his friend Kisa (a lioness). Since Max can no longer travel, Exotic Feline has brought a few other big cats in his place. These have included Gigi (a cervil), Storm (a white tiger), and Sampson III (an orange tiger). This year, Claire and Bailey will be visiting. These tiger cubs were born last summer.
Tickets can be purchased by contacting members of the Hutsonville High School Art Club or Student Counsel or by contacting the school at 618-563-4913.
