Attend a play, tree lighting at Rockville Hometown Holidays

Looking for some Christmas spirit? Visit the Rockville Hometown Holidays, Friday through Sunday.

The event will offer up carols, Santa, shopping, arts and crafts, a live Nativity re-enactment and a Christmas Home Tour.

The historic 100-year-old Ritz Theatre, downtown, will be showing a Christmas movie at 7 p.m. Friday and at 4 and 7 p.m. Saturday.

On Sunday, The Parke Players will offer their annual Christmas Play, this year presenting “The Nutcracker,” at 2 and 5 p.m. For more information on the production, call 765-569-0628.

Just across the street from the Ritz Theatre visitors will find the “Santa’s Li’l Secret” Shoppe, open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Clark’s Reception Hall will feature its Christmas bazaar on Saturday, as well.

Saturday is perhaps the highlight of the Covered Bridge Art Association’s yearly activities as it presents its annual Christmas Home Tour. Tour hours are 1 to 6 p.m. with tickets available at The Gallery on the square in Rockville. For tickets or more information call 765-569-9422.

The Art Association will also kick off a month-long Christmas bazaar on Saturday at The Gallery.

Proceeds will benefit maintenance and a restoration project.

The courthouse square on U.S. 36 will be the site for the lighting of the Community Christmas Tree at 6 p.m. Saturday.

There will be carolers, Santa will be on site, and Mrs. Claus and the elves will be on hand in the Hot Chocolate House from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Santa will be on hand from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Also on Saturday, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Santa and his elves will be decorating cookies and coloring Christmas pictures at the Rockville Public Library.

For lodging information or more information on Parke County Covered Bridge Christmas and Rockville Hometown Holidays, or other tourism information call 765-569-5226 or visit coveredbridges.com.
