Try reading to cure cabin fever

Winter is a great time to read in the warmth of our homes or while vacationing.

It is also when many of us get cabin fever, so again this year the Marshall (Ill.) Public Library is having a winter-time “Cabin Fever Reading Program” for readers ages 14 and older. The program will run for six weeks.

To get started, pick up a “Cabin Fever” bookmark at the library and record the books you read through Feb. 22.

Readers may read any number of books, listing five books on each bookmark and exchanging a completed bookmark at the circulation desk for a new bookmark. Each completed bookmark will serve as an entry in a weekly drawing for $5 gift certificates to local restaurants.

Also, this year you can earn a completed bookmark by each time you read one book by a local author. The reader with the highest number of bookmarks turned in by Feb. 22 will win the grand prize — a $20 Wal-Mart gift card. The prizes are sponsored by the Friends of Marshall Public Library.

Contact the library at 217-826-2535 or by emailing marshallpubliclibrary@gmail.com for more information.
