Dance Feb. 22 to the music of the Fabulous 40s

Shake the wintertime blues, enjoy a pork tenderloin dinner and dance to the music of the Fabulous 40s Big Band on Saturday in Krietenstein American Legion Post 104. The event, set for 7 p.m. to midnight, is a fundraiser for the Vigo County Veteran’s Memorial Park at ISU Memorial Stadium.

The dinner will be prepared by American Legion posts 104 and 346 auxiliary members and served in the large bingo room. Dancing will begin at 8.

The 17-piece Fabulous 40s Big Band plays music from the Great American Songbook, the Beatles, movies, Broadway shows and popular songs. Its playbook includes selections to meet the musical tastes of all ages.

Becca Maurey, 21, of Brazil, is the vocal soloist for the event. A life-long musician, Maurey played flute in the Northview High School band program, and sang with the school’s choirs. She has appeared as a singer with the Northview High School Jazz Band and the former jazz band of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College.

Tickets are $20 for an individual and $30 per couple. A cash bar will be available.

Post 104 is at 2690 Fort Harrison Road and has sufficient cleared parking space available.
