TERRE HAUTE —
Artists have until 5 p.m. Wednesday to apply for the opportunity to create an outdoor sculpture to honor composer Paul Dresser and one of his best-known songs, “On the Banks of the Wabash, Far Away,” which has been the state song of Indiana since 1913.
The song immortalizes the Wabash River, which runs for nearly 500 miles throughout the State of Indiana. The selected artist will design a sculpture for Fairbanks Park near Dresser’s boyhood home. The artist budget for this project is $50,000. For more information go to www.wabashvalleyartspaces.com or send a request to email@example.com or call 812-235-2801.
