Grants help artists advance careers

TERRE HAUTE — Two Wabash Valley artists are among 39 others in Indiana to receive career development assistance grants for 2014.

The Indiana Arts Commission accepted applications from artists in the performing arts for projects in dance, theatre, literature, music and folk and access arts for projects.

Artists could request up to $2,000 through the agency’s Individual Artist Program.

“These grants not only help artists advance their careers but provide opportunities for their talents to be shared in their communities through exhibitions, demonstrations and instructional opportunities,” said Lewis C. Ricci, IAC executive director.

The Region 6 grant recipients are:

• Mark Smith, Brazil, access literature

• Arthur Feinsod, Terre Haute, theater
