The Marshall City Band will perform a concert July 4 at the Clark County Fairgrounds in Marshall, Ill., in conjunction with the Fourth of July fireworks display. The concert will begin at 8 p.m. in front of the grandstand with the fireworks beginning at 9.
There will not be a band concert on the courthouse lawn this Friday. Concerts will resume the normal Friday evening schedule on July 12.
Band concerts are free and open to the public and staged each Friday evening through Aug. 9 on the Clark County Courthouse lawn. An ice cream social is put on in conjunction with the concerts. Lawn chairs are encouraged.
The band is directed by Ralph Stewart. This summer the band is collecting donations in memory of Harold Ellshoff, former band director of 45 years, who died this spring. A Music Scholarship Fund is being set up in his honor. Donations can be made to the Marshall City Band to the attention of the Ellshoff Scholarship Fund.
