Have you heard the news? Kim MacAfee has been picked to receive Conrad Birdie’s last kiss before he is inducted into the Army in “Bye Bye Birdie.”
Inspired by Elvis Presley and his draft notice in 1957, the Tony Award winning musical is set in 1958 and centers on the effects of a popular rock ‘n’ roll star leaving for the Army.
Come meet Albert Peterson, Rosie Alverez and Mae Peterson, Conrad’s managers from Almaelou Entertainment. Visit the town of Sweet Apple, where one lucky girl from Birdie’s fan club will receive a kiss. The upbeat score features “How Lovely To Be a Woman,” “The Telephone Hour,” “Put On A Happy Face,” “A Lot of Livin’ To Do” and “One Last Kiss.”
See the Phoenix Theater’s presentation of “Bye Bye Birdie” at 6:30 p.m. CDT Aug. 2-3 and Aug. 9-10 at the Clark County Extension Building, 15493 N. Illinois 1, in Marshall, Ill.
Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students.
Concessions will be available before the show and during intermission.
