Winter Choral Festival Feb. 7 to feature Cantus

Lincoln Trail College is scheduled to present Cantus as guest artist for its 2014 Winter Festival on Feb. 7.

Members of Cantus, a men’s vocal ensemble, performs without a conductor, and rehearse as chamber musicians, each contributing to the entirety of the artistic process.

Cantus performs more than 60 concerts each year both in national and international touring, as well as in its home of Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minn. It has released 15 albums on its own self-titled label.

Each year, the artists of Cantus share their love of singing with thousands of students through workshops and master classes.

Free participation in the festival is open to junior high or high school students. The afternoon of music making will culminate in a public performance of Franz Biebl’s “Ave Maria” on stage with Cantus at 7 p.m.

Participants age 14 and older may receive 1⁄2 credit hour of college credit for the educational presentations. To register for the festival, visit or contact the Performing Arts Office. Registration forms will also be available on site.

The festival begins at 1 p.m., with the public concert scheduled for 7 p.m. in the theater. Reserved tickets are $10 and will be available at the door or by calling the Performing Arts Office.
