Concert Jan. 29 to feature ISU Wind Orchestra

Vincennes University will present a guest concert featuring the Indiana State University Wind Orchestra at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 29 at the Red Skelton Performing Arts Center.

Admission is free. The Skelton Center is on the Vincennes University campus at 20 Red Skelton Blvd.

The concert will continue the ensemble’s international theme by featuring music by the British composer Kenneth Hesketh, American composers Frank Ticheli and Aaron Copland, and Italian-born composer Vittorio Giannini.

The 52-piece Indiana State University Wind Orchestra, under the direction of Roby G. George, is known for its performances of classic and contemporary band repertoire.

The group recently performed in Chicago’s Symphony Center, home of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Last fall, the group premiered “Resonances,” a contemporary work by Christopher Marshall.
