B3 Entertainment offers plenty of live music for Halloween

TERRE HAUTE — B3 Entertainment bands and musicians will certainly be busy this Halloween weekend. That means plenty of live events for area ghosts, goblins and other revelers.

On Friday night, The Dave Frisse Band — Dave Frisse, Doris Frisse, Eric Rasley, Jim Rasley and Todd Brooks — will perform from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. CDT in Castle Finn Winery at 1288 N. 1200th St., Marshall, Ill.

The band performs a great mix of rock classics — CCR, Neil Young, Eric Clapton, and the Beatles — with their own unique mix of rock, blues and jazz.

On Saturday, Ace in the Whole — Jimmy Hollingsworth, Carl Wallace, Aaron Kyle and Otter Fundip — will perform at Ambrosini’s Pizzeria from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Events include a costume contest with prizes. Ace in the Whole plays classic rock with ’90s and modern rock tossed in the mix. There will be no cover charge for this event.

Over in West Terre Haute, Trickbag — Dave Massa, Richard Regynski, Alex Williams, Jeremy McCurdy and Brett McNeill — will have the Highway 40 Sports Bar up and jumping. Trickbag performs from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., and again, there is no cover. The band performs a unique mix of contemporary classics in rock, blues, funk and country, including Jason Aldeen, John Mellencamp, Alice in Chains and more. The Highway 40 event will also include a costume contest with prizes.

Over in Marshall, Dicky James and the Blue Flames — Dicky James, John Beeson, Robert Freeze, Mark Ford and Will Cox — will have the Corner Bistro jumping and jiving with some of the best blues in the country. The band performs from 8 p.m. to midnight CDT.

At the Brazil Elks, Z Huffer, AKA Mark Huff, will perform his acoustic show with rock classics from the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s, with a good dose of country and blues tossed in for good measure. Z Huffer plays 12-string, six-string, upright bass and drums, with special effects and more.

Harrison’s Tavern in Rosedale will be rocking thanks to Hype War Machine — Jack Lavey, Frankie Derigo and Zach Findley. Hype offers some of the most unique cover songs among its mix, including Elvis’ “Burning Love” and ELO’s “Strange Magic” and “Don’t Bring Me Down,” as well as a good mix of original tunes.

Finally, in Indianapolis, three more B3 bands will present a “Haunted Halloween Blues Fest” at Beale Street Live, 6125 Southeastern Ave. The doors open at 8 p.m., and tickets will be $5 at the door.

Promoter Robert Flott of B3 Entertainment in Terre Haute is producing the Indy event. He promises plenty of food, fun, and of course, great music. “These are three of the best blues bands in the Midwest,” Flott said. “Ken Tucker, King James and the Verses, and Zach Day are all outstanding performers, with fans from all over the world. You won’t want to miss this one.”

The Ken Tucker Band is a power trio bringing together three musicians from extremely different backgrounds. Front man Tucker (guitar and vocals) was the lead guitarist for the late Larry Norman, a contemporary Christian artist. Bassist Jeff “JD Blue” Archer is a third-generation musician with 30 years in country music. Drummer Jimbo Alonso played predominately with hard rock and heavy metal bands.

King James and The Verses is a local Indianapolis blues band fronted by Jimmy V when not on tour with the Kelly Richey Band ( The unique lineup is comprised of members who are also involved with nationally and regionally touring bands. Lou Rapier on guitar plays with Scenic Fire; John Beck on keys plays with Rusty Hinge; Dave Kemp on drums has also toured with Kelly Richey and many other local bands; and John Switzer on guitar plays with The Legends.

Zach Day & Full Throttle is a guitar-driven blues/rock band based out of Anderson. The five-piece band includes Jerry Day (vocals), Paul Rhine (bass guitar), Steve Rowland (drums), Rex Williamson (keys) and Zach Day (guitar).

The band is put together with professional musicians ranging in age from 17 to 63. Day is an 18-year-old blues guitarist who plays with a skill and passion that belies his age and experience.

In addition to great music the Saturday event will also include a costume contest with cash prizes. Various members of the bands will serve as judges for this event.
