‘Bandit’s Run’ author in Rockville June 24

Jamie Brehmer, a new local author, will have her first book signing from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. June 24 in the Rockville Public Library, 106 N. Market St. This is a free program.

“Bandit’s Run” is the true story of a dog named Bandit and his travels throughout Parke County in 2008 to 2009. The story mirrors Lassie and the forest ranger trying to find her. Bandit and the author were so close to each other at times, without knowing it. While Bandit’s skittish personality kept him from coming back home right away, his resilience taught his family that he was definitely meant to be their dog.

Each week Brehmer published an update in the Parke County Sentinel newspaper with information on Bandit’s whereabouts. Many phone calls and miles of searching for more than three months finally came to an end. To this day, the Brehmers are still asked about Bandit from strangers who followed his story through the ads in the newspaper.

Books and e-cards will be available for sale. Books may also be purchased online at www.author

house.com, www.amazon.

com or www.barnesand

noble.com. The author can be contacted at 765-592-4077.

The library is also collecting supplies for the Parke-Vermillion County Humane Society Shelter. Donations of new or gently used collars and leashes, treats, cat and dog food, kitty litter, animal toys, laundry detergent, bleach and paper towels would be appreciated.
