The Wabash Valley Sewing Connection will feature author and quilt shop owner Debra Henninger on “The Secret Language of Riding the Rails” from 10 a.m. to noon June 17 in the Girl Scout Service Center, behind the YMCA in Fairbanks Park.
Henninger — also a history and railroad enthusiast — will present a lecture on hobo lore, their travels on the American railroads and the signs they used to communicate. Her book, “Hobo Quilts,” will be available for purchase.
Advance registration for non-members is $8 and includes the speaker and a salad luncheon. Checks should be sent by June 1 to Judy Dillion, 3784 Hotel Road, Terre Haute, IN 47802.
