The Bicentennial Art Center in Paris, Ill., will display the 59th annual Fall Juried Exhibition from now through Nov. 8.
The Fall Show was open to all artists ages 18 and up residing within a 100-mile radius of Paris. There were 88 entries submitted by 36 different artists. The judge for the exhibit, Ray Chen, executive director of the Halcyon Art Gallery in Terre Haute, chose 69 pieces for the show and gave the following awards:
n Judge’s Choice: Gayla Schuett, Villa Grove, Ill., “My Stunning Mystery Companion,” graphite and colored pencil
n Merit awards: Julia London-Meddles, Terre Haute, “Colors of the Wabash,” oil; J. Anna Roberts, Brownsburg, “Coconut Crème,” watercolor; Donna Hayes, Paris, “You’ve Got Mail,” acrylic; John Gabb, Effingham, Ill., “Hope,” oil; and John Davidson, Terre Haute, “Paint by Numbers,” hand-stamped ink
n Honorable mention: Tom Swopes, Dennison, Ill., “Orphan of Babylon,” acrylic; Clyde Sims, Charleston, Ill., “Swan Lake,” acrylic; Karen Reed, Charleston, Ill., “Cameo,” ceramic; Julia London-Meddles, “Knife Then Pear,” oil; and Stephanie Doty, West Terre Haute, “Empty Spaces and Memories,” mixed media triptych
