“My favorite soup night” on Saturday will help Martinsville on the Move raise funds for its Education Committee.
More than 10 different sorts of soups will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. CDT in the Martinsville (Ill.) Community Center. Soups include black bean, green chili, red chili, bow tie, creamy rice; cheese, taco or potato soup and more.
Tickets are $5 at the door. Each ticket comes with five stamps to sample one soup per stamp; or patrons can sample two soups and get one whole bowl of soup for 3 stamps.
Drinks and desserts are free with the purchase of a $5 ticket.
All proceeds will go toward educational projects sponsored by Martinsville on the Move.
Scrimmage to raise funds for trainer
To raise funds for a local athletic trainer recently diagnosed with breast cancer, the Lincoln Trail College men’s and women’s basketball teams will host a Green and White scrimmage at 7 p.m. Monday in the LTC gym in Robinson, Ill.
The event will feature intersquad competition, refreshments and fun in the name of a good cause.
Kristi Rawlings of Robinson was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Her husband, Scott, is the trainer for LTC athletics. All proceeds from the event will go to the family to help with medical expenses.
