Marshall Public Library offers full fall schedule

The Marshall (Ill.) Public Library has a full slate of events scheduled this fall.

On Oct. 24 Dan Crews will facilitate the program, “Road to Victory: The D-Day Experience.”

Crews will bring artifacts from World War II Normandy for visitors to see. Then a film called “The Americans on D-Day” will be shown, and Crews will share his insights into the battle and the time. Register to attend by calling the library at 217-826-2535.

On Oct. 24 little ones can put on their Halloween costumes and visit the library between 5 and 7 p.m. for a slightly spooky story. Anyone in a costume will get a treat. Children can go trick-or-treating at the library and at Burnsides Community Health Center on the same night.

Parents in Marshall with second-graders can come to the library for “I Can Read @ Marshall Public Library,” a grant program that provides a backpack, a library card, a book and several other items that will remind families to use the library. All who participate will be rewarded with a party at the library in November, with a mystery reader, games and treats.

In addition, patrons can take advantage of the following events.

• 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays: “Toddler Time” for ages birth to 3

• 6:30 p.m. third Thursdays: “Little Book Beginners” for ages 3 to 5

• 6:30 p.m. fourth Mondays: MPL Book Club, discussing “The Night Circus” by Erin Morgenstern on Oct. 28
