Local filmmaker announces Oct. 19 premiere of first full-length movie, ‘In a Cage’

Candy J. Beard, CEO of Dreams Come True Films LLC in Terre Haute, announces the premiere of the firm’s first full-length movie, “In a Cage,” with four viewings on Oct. 19.

Show times are 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. in a conference room at the Holiday Inn, 3300 S. U.S. 41.

The one-hour, 23-minute film will be followed by a short audience survey and meet-and-greet with cast and crew members.

The movie was written and produced by Beard, and directed by first-time director Nagaraju Vellala, a native of India. The film was shot in 11 days between September and November of 2011, in Clinton, on a $7,000 budget.

The film, based upon actual events in the life of Beard’s mother, is rated “R” for strong language and violence, including themes of domestic violence.

The main characters are Paisley Blackburn of Kokomo and Christopher Hunt, a former Martinsville, Ind., resident.

Tickets are $6 and on sale now. Movie posters and T-shirts will be available for sale at the premiere. Funds raised will go toward film festival entry fees.

The firm’s next film, “Vanished,” is half way through the production process, under Beard’s direction.
