See the stars at Shades State Park Sept. 28

On Saturday, Shades State Park is hosting the Wabash Valley Astronomical Society for a night of stargazing. A variety of large telescopes will be set up for visitors to use, and experts will be on hand to show stargazers the wonder of the night sky, answer questions, and provide an evening of magical fun.

Activities begin at 8 p.m. at the Pine Shelter located just inside the entrance gate. Stargazing will be along the new road near the Pine Shelter, and will continue until 1 a.m., long after the park’s normal closing time. Bring blankets and lounge chairs, or just wander among the astronomers.

The event will be canceled in case of cloudy skies or inclement weather.

The star party is free, but the usual park entrance fees apply.
