Workshop to focus on working with alpaca fiber

News Release

TERRE HAUTE — Ready to move to the next step in alpaca ownership? Wondering what to do with all that fiber? It’s not too late to sign up for a workshop with White Violet Farm Alpacas at St. Mary-of-the-Woods that will walk new and potential alpaca owners through the ins and outs of using alpaca fiber.

The workshop, Alpaca 102: What do I do with all this fiber?, will be conducted from 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday.

The one-day class will offer a hands-on approach to working with alpaca fiber, including a chance to skirt, card, wash and felt the fiber. Fiber terminology, ideas on shearing and fiber preparation as well as spinning and weaving demonstrations are all on the agenda.

White Violet Farm Alpacas instructors Sister Maureen Freeman, CSJ, director, and Candace Minster, fiber coordinator, will help participants make the most of their luxurious alpaca fiber.

Cost for the program is $75 and includes lunch.
