The third annual Miles for Miles 5k Run/Walk is planned for Aug. 17 at Sullivan County Park and Lake.
“Miles for Miles” is an ongoing benefit for Sullivan resident Miles Thompson who has been fighting Acute Lymphoid Leukemia. Miles’ medical and travel expenses are extensive because of health issues following his recovery from ALL. Miles obtained his associate’s degree from Vincennes University in May 2011, days before receiving his diagnosis.
The race begins at 8 a.m.; registration is $25. Included in the entry fee is a shirt, chip timing (The run will provide chip-timing by Timing MD.), a raffle ticket and a goody bag. Vendors have donated items that will be raffled following the run.
A kids’ fun run has been added to this year’s event. Participants will receive T-shirts, goody bags and medals. Cost is $10. The kids’ race begins at 7:30 a.m.
You can register for the run at www.wvrr.org or at www.runningintheusa.com. For more information, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call/text 812-798-5486.
