Charleston to burst with arts during fest on Eastern Illinois campus, April 19-21

CHARLESTON, Ill. — “Celebration: A Festival of the Arts” returns on April 19 through 21 to the campus of Eastern Illinois University in Charleston.

The festival will take place on South Seventh Street between the Doudna Fine Arts Center and Buzzard Building.

A Charleston tradition since 1977, the three-day festival is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. on April 19 when the first band takes the stage and the food booths open. The festival will feature various musical performances, dance programs, an international fair, a children art tent and a fine arts fair April 20 and 21.

The art show features potters, jewelers, photographers, painter and sculptors. All the artwork is hand-crafted by the artists attending the festival.

There is no admission charge to the festival, and the grounds are handicap-accessible.
