Vigo County Fair announces search for the next Vocalist

TERRE HAUTE — The Wabash Valley Fair Association, FTC Productions Inc. and the Conservatory of Music have teamed up for the second year to bring an exciting Grandstand event to the 2013 Vigo County Fair. The Vocalist, a solo vocalist talent competition, is open to ages 14 and older. Each contestant must submit a CD of him/her performing, along with an official completed entry form by 6 p.m. Friday to: The Conservatory of Music at 470 W. Honey Creek Drive, Terre Haute, IN 47802.

The top 25 contestants will be announced on Monday. They will then compete in front of a panel of judges on June 15, and the final 10 performers will be chosen to compete in a live performance at the fair on July 9.

“The talent in the Wabash Valley continues to amaze us. Last year was a big hit. We are looking forward with great anticipation to discover this year's Vocalist,” said Ron Cook, president of the Conservatory of Music.

The audience will again hold the final decision in their hands — they will receive a ballot when they purchase a ticket. After all the performances, the ballots will be collected, counted, and the winner will be proclaimed.

“We are looking forward to the second year of the Vocalist competition. It has been a great addition to the line-up of Grandstand events during the Vigo County Fair. The Wabash Valley has many talented residents and we are always excited to see who will be chosen as the winner the night of the show. Ron Cook and his staff are a pleasure to work with and have made this an exciting experience,” said Jennifer Cook, Wabash Valley Fair Association president.

Entry forms, along with a rule and prize list, may be picked up at The Conservatory of Music, or are available online at or
