Clay City Pottery Festival this weekend

---- — The Clay City Lion’s Club is celebrating the 26th Clay City Pottery Festival this Saturday and Sunday.

The fifth and sixth generations of the Griffith family operate Clay City Pottery, Indiana’s only commercial manufacturer of pottery. The business will be open for tours, demonstrations, and pottery painting between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. both days.

A biscuit and gravy breakfast sponsored by Clay City USA is planned for 7 to 9 a.m. Saturday at the Lions Den at Goshorn Park. Crafters will also be set up at the park, along with a flea market, live music and lots of food.  

Crafters will be open from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, the flea market from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and beginning at 10 a.m. Sunday.

The fifth annual car show will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at the park. Drive-ins are welcome. Also, the Lion’s Club will be serving grilled chicken dinners and grilled tenderloins from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.  

A community church service is planned for  9 a.m. Sunday at the gazebo in the park.  There will be a Jonah Fish Fry beginning at 11 a.m. at the Lion’s Club Building, and the Angela Lilly Trio will perform at the gazebo. Lawn chairs are encouraged.

The Clay City Fair also begins Friday, with a carnival and tractor pulls on Friday and Saturday. A fireworks display is planned for 10 p.m. Saturday.
