The Terre Haute Quarter Midget Association will offer four scholarships this season to four children who otherwise might not be able to afford a racing car.
The organization’s annual kickoff event is scheduled for Saturday at 10 a.m. The Arrive and Drive event is $10 to run 10 laps in the cars.
Applications for the one-year scholarships can be filled out Saturday at the track, which is located at 13th Street and Lockport Road. The cars run on 4-horsepower Honda engines.
“It’s a great opportunity for our club and well as the four recipients,” Terre Haute Quarter Midget Association president Bill Ramsey said.
The track has offered racing for Wabash Valley youth ages 5-16 for more than 50 years. Races at the Hulman Mini-Speedway are each Saturday from April 19 through October.
