PARIS, Ill. —
A reception will begin at 5 p.m. Friday at the Bicentennial Art Center in Paris, Ill., for the public and exhibitors in the 16th annual Paint Illinois Juried Exhibition.
This show is composed of 41 paintings entered by artists living in Illinois. They were selected for inclusion in the show by Petra Nyendick of Terre Haute, the juror for the competition. Nyendick will critique the exhibit and hand out the awards at approximately 5:30 p.m.
The Judge’s Choice Award/Best of Show went to Kari Rajkumar of Paris for her pastel titled “Sid.”
Merit Award winners are: Sandra Lautrup, Effingham, Ill., “Keep Out,” watercolor; Thomas Swopes, Dennison, Ill., “Rain in the Yard,” oil; Jan Kappes, Mattoon, Ill., “Old Planter Plate #1,” ink; and Sharon Hilbert, West Union, Ill., “Red Hats at Flower Fair,” pastel.
Artists selected to receive Honorable Mention awards are: Nancy Hollis, Paris, “Turnips,” watercolor; Marie Moore, Mattoon, “Spring Underfoot,” watercolor; Joyce Callaway, Oakland, Ill., “The Deep End,” watercolor; and Jo Rich, Marshall, Ill., “Rhododendron,” pastel.
Other participating artists include: Treva Ayers, Chrisman, Ill.; Marcia Boroughs, Charleston, Ill.; Dennis Collier, Paris; Eva Epperson, Ashmore, Ill.; John Gabb, Effingham, Ill.; Gayla Schuett, Villa Grove, Ill.; and Joleen White, Paris
This exhibition will be on view to the public through June 8. Art Center hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, or by appointment. Admission to the Art Center is free.
