An Evening of Art & Wine Aug. 16 features Sullivan artist

An Evening of Art & Wine featuring the art of Kathy M. Matlock is scheduled 6 to 8 p.m. today, Aug. 16, in the Sullivan County Learning Center at 2110 N. Hospital Blvd., Suite 1, in Sullivan.

Matlock’s art will be displayed and available for purchase, with 20 percent of art sales going to the Ivy Tech Foundation. The event is sponsored by Ivy Tech Community College.

Matlock was born and raised in Sullivan County and has recently returned to the Wabash Valley from Oregon. She has always been interested in and dabbled in art and, through a chance meeting with artist Eloise Lovell, she was inspired to expand her horizons.

Matlock works mostly with acrylics, and has recently begun to use graphite and watercolor in her art. The subjects of her artwork vary based on what inspires her at the moment although most of Kathy’s work has concentrated on nature in various forms.

She has participated in several shows and exhibitions in the past year and has completed a few commissioned pet portraits, which bring joy to her and the owners. Matlock also has several pieces on display in the Sullivan Area Art Guild Gallery. She is a member of the Wabash Valley Art Guild.

Matlock may be reached at (812) 394-2353 or kmatlock56@gmail.com.
