Lincoln’s library honors Illinois fallen soldiers

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum is hosting an exhibit of drawings of fallen Illinois soldiers.

The museum announced Tuesday the exhibit will run through May 31.

Called “Portrait of a Soldier.” The traveling exhibit is composed of hand-drawn portraits of military personnel during the War on Terror.

Artist Cameron Schilling of Mattoon has drawn all the portraits. He began drawing them in August 2004.

Gov. Pat Quinn quoted Abraham Lincoln in praising the exhibit. Quinn says the exhibit honors Illinois heroes who have given their last full measure of devotion.
