Annual Wabash Valley Juried Exhibition opens July 12

The 64th Annual Wabash Valley Juried Exhibition at the Swope Art Museum opens July 12th, underwritten by First Financial Bank, with a free opening reception from 1 to 3 p.m., with awards given at 2 p.m.

The Swope Art Museum is at 25 S. Seventh St. in Terre Haute.

The Wabash Valley Annual, a regional showcase, is one of the oldest juried art exhibits in the state of Indiana; submissions of work are accepted from any living artist who resides within a 150-mile radius of Terre Haute.

This year features 64 artists from Indiana and Illinois.

Judging this year was Margaret Hawkins a Chicago-based writer, art critic and teacher.

The Swope received 360 entries from more than 100 regional artists and 64 artworks of varied styles and media were selected for exhibition. Merit and purchase awards totaling more than $7,000 were bestowed to artists.

The 64th Annual Wabash Valley Juried Exhibition runs July 12 to Sept. 6. The Swope Art Museum is open Tuesday-Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday noon to 5 p.m.
